Adding Indigenous videos to your course

The Kaltura Shared Repository allows open sharing of content with other employees of Douglas College. For searchability purposes, the shared repository includes a tagging structure based on Douglas College Faculties, Departments, and Services.

Please note the Terms of Use:

  • When using the Shared Repository, you are making your content available to all other Douglas College employees that are using Kaltura.

  • Content: Use of this services at Douglas College falls under the Acceptable Use of Computer and Information Technology Standard Policy.

  • Privacy: You must have consent before sharing work that reveals the personal information of others.

  • Copyright: Responsibility for ensuring that the copyrights of others, including publishers and individuals, are not infringed rests with the person sharing the content. The accepted understanding of copyrighted work is found in the College Use of Copyrighted Works Policy.

The following Indigenous knowledge videos can be added through the Shared Repository to Blackboard courses:

Video 1- stal̕əw̓- The River

Video 2- Food and Culture

Video 3- Role of Elders

Video 4- Salmon

Video 5- Medicines & Smudging

Video 6- Indigenous Gathering Place

Adding the videos to a course Media Gallery

  1. Access or add Kaltura Media Gallery to your Course Content area.

  2. In the Media Gallery, then select Add Media.

  3. Select Shared Repository at the top of the page.

  1. Search the Repository using the titles above and the select the media you want to add to your course’s Media Gallery

  2. Check the box to the left of the entry and then and then select Publish.

  3. The media will accessible to users in the Media Gallery if you have made the gallery visible.

Adding Shared Repository media to a course content item

  1. In the text editor of a content item, select the (plus) and then select Content Market.

  2. Select Kaltura Media LTI.

  3. Select Shared Repository at the top of the page.

  4. Search the Repository using the titles above and the select the media you want to add.

  5. Select Embed next to the desired media.

  6. Edit the Display Name in the pop-up window that appears.

  7. Select Insert and then Save after the media thumbnail loads.
